Tastiera is the musical pseudonym of Shawn Miller, a native of Colorado teetering on the edge of 40. Shawn has been playing keyboard since the age of 3, when his parents bought him a pink toy piano with multicolored keys that he broke in his musical enthusiasm. Piano lessons followed a short while later, and by the age of 12, Shawn was composing his own tunes. He began releasing albums every few months in high school, not being burdened with any kind of dating or social life. The name "Tastiera", which is Italian for "keyboard", was plucked out of his handy dandy pocket music dictionary one night in the mid 80's, and he began to record under that name in 1988.

"Stratospheric", created in early 2007, is the 9th Tastiera album, and the first one to go on sale. It is quite an evolution in both style and production quality from Shawn's earlier material, which featured more naive lyrics, ample missed notes, and "studio" equipment held together by duct tape and chewing gum. "Stratospheric", by comparison, features words that can only come from being kicked around by life a bit, the latest in synth and recording software technology, and a few notes played by the artist on a real Fender Strat. The followon to "Stratospheric", entitled "Decades", will be completed this summer.

In addition to composing and recording music, Shawn enjoys playing hockey (he is a goalie in one of the Denver area's beer leagues), bike riding, racquetball, watching just about any kind of sport, and kicking back with friends over a drink or three. To pay the bills and fund his musical exploits, he works as an aerospace engineer in the daytime.
