âWell, the way I saw it, I didnât want to wait for someone else to find me in order to start making my dreams a reality. So, I figured that there must be some way that I could do it myself.â says the 15 year-old singer/songwriter, Caitlin Timmins. Now most 15 year-olds have no idea where their lives are going, and do not have any known ambition or talents yet. Caitlin Timmins is not one of them.
One very unique thing about Caitlin is that she sings, writes, records, edits, mixes and promotes all of her songs - by herself. Caitlin can play piano, and she uses loops and MIDI in her songs. âIt gets to be a lot of fun actually, because I can make it sound like I have a whole band backing me up, but itâs all on my computer. So, for example, even though I donât know how to play drums, I can still put them into the song, and they sound just as good as if I hired a drummer and rented a recording studio to record them playing.â This, in itself, astonishes everyone that hears her music. They canât believe that she did all of it on her PC in her bedroom! Also, as read on websites such as MySpace, YouTube, and Facebook, her fans describe her as âinspirationalâ, âamazingâ, and they have high hopes that she will âmake it big somedayâ.
Success would seem to be very near in her future, for she is planning to release her debut album on itunes in 2008, starting with releasing her single âMagazinesâ. This album will obtain of original songs, all of which she recorded, edited, etc. by herself. She says, âThe cool thing about this album is that itâs all me, every part of it. The songs are written about my experiences, but also, everything you hear is my year-and-a-halfâs worth of hard work on recording, editing, and doing everything to make it sound as professional as possible.â Another thing that is âall Caitlinâ is her style of music. It fits somewhere between rock, pop, and jazz, which is a style that you donât come across too often. âThere was a time when I tried to choose a genre to âfit underâ, but it was impossible. Iâve always loved rock, pop, and jazz music, so I thought - Iâll just do all three!â
With her clever use of the internet, Caitlin Timmins is reaching people from across the globe. Her fame is growing each day, but she says that gaining fame isnât exactly what sheâs working towards. âMy goal isnât to become famous just to be famous. My goal is to reach as many people as possible with my music.â Well, that is something that thousands of people believe is going to happen, not to mention the thousands that canât wait to see what is coming next.
