Details:
Cuarteto de la Ascensión is a trombone quartet founded in the mid 1990's by composer and trombonist Jamie Wehr. Mr. Wehr has been active as a performer and musician since his late teens, when he played and recorded in many of the local clubs and studios in the Central Florida area. He began writing music at the age of 13, but had his first formal lessons while attending the University of Central Florida (B.A. 1982) from Dr. Burt Szabo. He furthered his studies at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (M.M.) where he studied bass trombone with Mrs. Betty Glover and composition from Dr. Scot Huston. His first published transcriptions were type set by PP Music in the mid 1980's. After studying trombone with Mr. M. Dee Stewart and Mr. Edwin Anderson at the Indiana University School of Music, Mr. Wehr left to join the low brass section of the Teatr Wielki Orchestra in Warsaw, Poland. Upon his return to the United States and his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force Band of Liberty, Mr. Wehr set down in earnest to publish and compose new works and transcriptions for chamber ensembles. Founding Wehr's Music House in 1989, the catalogue boasts over 300 titles and over 50 composers and arrangers. It is with this recording that Mr. Wehr embarks on a new adventure in producing recordings of many works from this catalogue.
