Guitarist/Composer Jane Miller has released her third CD, consisting entirely of new original contemporary Jazz Instrumentals.
The compositions and arrangements are brilliantly executed by the stellar group of Boston area musicians (Jane Miller-guitars, percussion, piano-track 12,producer; Tim Ray-piano; Bob Simonelli-fretless electric bass; Don Kirby-drums; with guests Ken LaRoche-wood flute, percussion; and the Arriaga String Quartet).
The pairing of engineer extraordinaire Peter Kontrimas with assistant producer Lauren Passarelli has resulted in a clean bold sound, providing the perfect vehicle for this material.
The selections range from jazz ensemble playing and improvisation to bossa nova, to folk and rock influenced grooves with strong melodies throughout.
Also included is Miller's debut writing for strings, beautifully performed by the Arriaga String Quartet.
