A Biography:

Jason Lewis was born on a cold and rainy October morning somewhere in the last quarter of the last century in full view of the strip-mined corpse of the West Virginia hill country. The bastard son of a 19 year old bookbinder, he was sent away to live with a stable but barren couple who soon after divorced. Both adoptive parents turned to the drink. At the age of three Jason began singing to drown out the screaming and soon found that he had a gift for itÂor was it a curse?

Life went on, Jason attended public school where he was widely ignored and, if noticed at all, disliked. He continued singing and soon joined "Rock and Roll Bands" as they were then called. Jason went to college. Jason studied English. Equipped with all the tools necessary for success, Jason moved to The Big City, where he started his own "Rock and Roll Band." He called it Star City after the place of his origin. Star City traveled the world, playing for the Kings and Queens of Europe and the Oil Barons and Textile Magnates of North America. They released 'compact discs' of their Âoriginal material¹ and they were roundly supported as worthy of the time it took to listen to them. Some people came to love Star City. Still others were unaware. All good things come to an end and so there came an ending for Star City.

Jason retreated to his secluded mountain hideaway and began writing new songs. The songs poured forth by the dozens and demos filtered out into the world and were noticed by Jay Bennett, once the genius behind Wilco and now producing the music of other like-minded, misguided souls. Jay fell in love with Jason's new songs and invited him to his Chicago studio to record some of them. Jason accepted and flew west with one guitar and an aerobed. The sessions began. Jason played a lot of everything, Jay stepped in and played some more. The songs grew; they were overdubbed and mixed. And now here is a sampling of them before you. Thank you for listening.
