Details:
Hi, my name is James. I'm a singer/songwriter/musician currently living in the great state of Vermont. I have been a music lover since I was a baby, and it's never lost its hold on me in the 30 years I've been around this life. I began as a drummer, literally when I was a young child. Walking and drummer seemed to go hand in hand in my developmental process. I didn't really pick up a guitar until I was almost in college - so I really have been a drummer most of my life.

I played thrash metal in high-school and into college. I was a big 80's / 90's metal guy, back when metal was still metal. Then one day I stumbled onto a band called 'toad the wet sprocket', and I haven't looked back since.

I joined a Boston-based group named "Angry Salad" in the spring of 1994 and was an on/off member of that band for the better part of 10 years. I really learned what it meant to be in a band during that time. Touring, playing almost every night, eating food samples at the local grocery store, learning to sleep in an overcrowded van moving 80 mph...

Somewhere in those years I formed another band called "Chasing Gray". We had a good run throughout the northeast, and were even named "Spin Magazine's Best Unsigned Alternative Band" in 1998. Our CD "A Break in the Clouds" was popular on college campuses around the northeast. But it just wasn't a band meant to withstand the pressures of the music business, so we disbanded after a show at Northeastern University in 2001.

My first solo CD came out about 9 months later followed by a record release party in Boston. "Between" marked my departure into the world of singer/songwriters, and growth as a musician. Not really knowing how to market the disc, I went to the internet to help get the music out. Also, I wasn't able to afford to pay a band to play the shows - so they wound up mostly being acoustic.

Over the next few years I entered the studio again to record the follow-up to "Between". This summer I plan to release this CD called "Fleeting" as my second solo album. Early reviews are favorable, and say that it shows great development and maturity. It seems artists can only get better if they stay true to what they do, and to themselves. Here's hoping that I'm right.
