Guinee Fare, West African Dance rhythms is a collection of irresistible dance grooves of various tempos played on traditional instruments including djembes, dunduns, bell and shekere. This c.d. has been popular with dancers, music and movement educators, fitness instructors and anyone who loves African drumming.
All but one of the tracks are repeated with the second version of the rhythm having more accents and embellishments making it great for African or original choreography. The unique rhythm, Wolossodon, used with the slave dance has been included for its historical significance.
An instructional dance video entitled "West African Dance with Abdoulaye Camara" was produced in conjunction with the c.d. Several dances are taught by Guinea native Abdoulaye Camara including Kuku, Yole and Triba which are also on the c.d. Those interested should go to the drum and dance weblink listed on this page.
Jason Hann is an International percussionist in every sense of the word. He has toured and recorded throughout the world with an amazing variety of global musicians including Prince Diabate (Guinee), Hassan Hakmoun (Morrocco), Mansour (Iran), Aloke Dutta (India), Khaley Nguwell (Senegal), and Prince Eyango (Cameroon). Artists that he has worked with in the U.S. include Vinx, Rickie Lee Jones, Darius Rucker (of Hootie), Andre Crouch, Zoo People, Brian Hughes, Alana Davis, and the legendary Isaac Hayes. His highlight solo performance was in Istanbul where he accompanied his own DJ set with live percussion, and included guests from the famous Turkish band Mogullar.
