Details:
Jay Paul Roy is a licensed professional counselor who has worked with abused children and youth for over 15 years. He has a passion to see today's youth be delivered from the bondage of sin, healed by the touch of Christ, and freed into the glory God has for them. Jay Paul comes from a musical family. His father, Buddy Roy, once sang on the Louisianna Hayride in the mid 50's, where he was an opening act for Elvis Presley. He currently has a gospel album. Jay's father's rock-a-billy style sunk deep into his musical soul. His brother, Jeremy Roy, who can "sang" the lights out, also has a gospel album, and his sister Jayme Bennett and Jennifer Knight have always sung as well. Jennifer sings bgvs on Josiah's Cry. Jay Paul was raised in the 70's and 80's and is influenced by the music of these eras, as well as a strong influence from black gospel music. Jay never performed solo in front of an audience until after he had graduated from college. Encouraged by "the brotherhood" of the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (Scott Matthews, Sonny Flippo, Matt Burton, Ryan Rush, and many others) Jay first performed a solo at Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton Tex. He then began singing with the GUYS (a five part acapella group) and his passion to minister through music grew. Jay Paul then met Ron Hendrix in Lampasas while at New Covenant Church. Along with his son Josh Hendrix and guitarist Gary Craft, he began recording Josiah's Cry with Transcendent Music Group in Dec. of 2000. Jay Paul plans to continue writing music and plans for another album in the near future. Keep in prayer for his ministry and spread the word. Join him in his vision to reach a nation of youth for Christ.
