"Glory Town" is an album comprised of all original material written and performed by the artist James Clark. It features many name artists that collectively have helped James put together a much needed addition to the Contemporary Christian musical genre. This album features upbeat jammin' tunes packed full of horns and solos as well as thought provoking numbers that will leave you thinking about your destiny.
James Clark was born in Houston, TX and began singing in nightclubs at age nine. He received classical training on the violin early but was later influenced by the Rock and Roll artists of the late 60's and on into the 70's. With a diverse interest in musical styles and an intense desire to perform and write his own music he began singing with many different bands of different genres. He was often found performing with a different style band every night of the week. It was in this way that he was able to fine tune his vocal abilities as well as broaden his range and style repertoire.
James began writing at an early age but began to record some of his original music in the late 70's. Because of his wide interests he has written songs in just about every popular style. James is now a Birmingham, AL based singer and songwriter who currently has a bank of over 600 songs completed that cover the most popular music categories including Pop, Blues, Soul, Rock, Country, R & B, Gospel and Contemporary Christian. It is in this last category that his latest work is part of.
James has performed in the Birmingham area for many years and has won many local, statewide, regional and national vocal competitions. He has won songwriting competitions and has also written songs that have been recorded by other artists.
James has been a member of MountainTop Community Church for several years and has been a part of the music team there for the last six years. He has been inspired to write and record Contemporary Christian music and was recently afforded the opportunity to do so. The result is "Glory Town" which is his latest album featuring all original material and solos from such name artists as "Blue Lou" Marini. This album features classic R & B styling coupled with "Tower of Power" style horns making for a much needed style addition to the Contemporary Christian music field.
