Details:
An impromptu recording session turned catharsis, "First Impressions" exposes JDM's deepest emotions over the loss of his brother and best friend.

Reviewers from Amazon.com had this to say:

Five Stars ***** soothing and re-listenable, July 11, 2002
Reviewer: A music fan from Lake Oswego, OR USA
if you enjoy Winston'esque piano solos, this is one for your collection. The mood is introspective and with feeling. I've listened to this many, many times and I still find passages that say something new.

Five Stars ***** Absolutely Great!, June 30, 2002
Reviewer: A music fan from Punta Gorda, FL USA
...I've played First Impressions many times since receiving it and find something different to like each time. Haunting, mystical, spiritual, uplifting, joyful...these are just some of the feelings this work invokes. I own John's last CD, Oh Yeah, which was also great, but this new one is better to "mellow out" with. John David Miller is a very talented musician!

----------------------------------------------

John David Miller got his first music job as a church organist at the tender age of ten, having written his first piece two years earlier. Although classically trained for a decade from age six, JDM says that he didn't really learn how to play until he starting playing his own music, particularly improvisations. A self-taught sax player, guitarist, and drummer, the piano remains his most connected means of musical expression.
