Jerra is a new kind of songwriter, a melodic storyteller who rocks. She's dark but sweet, commanding attention with power in her voice, guitar playing, and performance.

Her music will take you by surprise. At first, the six songs on her new EP appear happy, and almost bubblegum in their uplifting and catchy qualities. But a closer look reveals something undeniably sophisticated about Jerra's presentation, lyrics, and music. The stories she tells and the emotions she conveys reflect a darkness and dry sense of humor below their harmonious surface.

Jerra was always the exotic exception to the standard beach blonde in San Diego. Starting at age 12, she was already playing her original music at coffeehouses and bars across town. During these years, Jerra attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Northern Michigan, majoring in writing. She published numerous poems and short stories and won prestigious writing awards. On school breaks, back in San Diego, Jerra developed a local following.

In 2001, Jerra graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in Dramatic Writing with an emphasis in writing plays and musicals. While at NYU, she continued to develop while regularly playing her newest material at many of New York's most prestigious rock venues.

Upon graduation, Jerra moved to San Francisco to further develop her craft. She set up a home recording studio and began to write new songs. She performed extensively, playing both with her band and solo, including a performance of her song "Lady America" on the main stage at one of San Francisco's antiwar rallies, before a crowd of 50,000.

With new material, Jerra sought out Gadget of Function 8 Records to re-record the songs that she'd been producing in her apartment. "At home, I had to become a one-woman band. Now all of the parts can finally show themselves."

With her new six-song EP completed, 24 year-old Jerra moved to Los Angeles, where she now lives and works.
