Loop Ellington was born underground, while sat on a tube train, listening to Duke Ellington mp3âs. His big band were dropping sleazy brass riffs inducing life from the old chugging train. The screeching breaks and hissing doors defined a moment. A cultural memory resonated from the trans-continental express trains that Ellingtonâs band rode, to the cut up electronic laptop sound of todayâs musical innovators.

Loop Ellington are based around 2 laptops, trumpet and a table full of electronics to produce an evolving pattern of sound and loops, always re-inventing itself. They are inspired by the Dukes ability to mess with the head as well as the feet, having crossed through experimental jazz clubs to the dance floor.

The two tracks featured on the single are evolved from
"Caravan" and "Black and Tan Fantasy". Not that you would
recognise those tunes from the single as none of the
Duke bits are used or even quoted here.

This is the first of a series of limited edition 7inch singles that establish mutated duke free versions. The plan is to reveal on a forthcoming album, how the original Ellington tunes were bent out of shape and turned into our own compositions.
