Flow Tribe began as a collaboration between high school friends KC OâRorke, Blake Quick, and Chad Penot. Everyday after school they would meet and practice until they were consistently creating songs. Flow Tribe is one hundred percent improvisational, from KC OâRorkeâs lyrics to lead guitarist Blake Quickâs melodies. Over time Flow Tribe expanded and added Russell Olschner on drums and Bryan Santos on guitar, which is when they named themselves according to the organic and spontaneous outpouring of musical ideas and influences that came from this group of individuals. Shortly after Flow Tribe began playing shows on a consistent basis everything was put to an immediate halt when everyone split up to go to college and Russell Olschner, the drummer, was sent off to Iraq with the National Guard. Through hard work and dedication they made it past this large obstacle on the road to success until they were hit yet again by Hurricane Katrina. At this point the members of the band made a promise to each other and said that nothing, not even a natural disaster, would stop them from playing the music that inspired them. The final piece of the Flow Tribe puzzle came shortly after Katrina in the form of John Michael Early, who is a wizard on the harmonica. Now a complete unit, Flow Tribe began playing more shows in the New Orleans area and formed a formidable reputation throughout the Southeast United States. Influenced by the eclectic New Orleans funk/rock community Flow Tribe has grown into a dynamic and entertaining entity that is equivalent to a New Orleans street parade on stage.
