Issue 23-05 September/October - 1996
The Jeff Jolly Band's new CD, '"The Runner" (Boff), shows that the the band has an expansive blues-rock sound that encompasses many other styles effectively. The most immediately striking things about the disc are (Jolly's) fluid and inventive lead guitar work and his impressive original songs. While there's not a mediocre song among the 12, the best cuts are the straight-ahead rock of "Long Distance Love" with its sinewy lead lines, the jazzier sounding "A Believer" (with Zero's Martin Fierro on tenor sax) and the haunting instrumental "S.R.V. (We'll Miss You)", a tribute to the late Stevie Ray Vaughn.'

The Runner was produced by Howard Wales (Grateful Dead,Jerry Garcia Band,)Howard wales also plays on a few of the tracks as well. Thanks Howard for all the help!
