"Miller...has a dynamic acoustic style reminiscent of Steve Tibbetts and Phil Keaggy."

-John Hayes, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Nothing flashy. No slick production. Just Jeff Miller, an acoustic guitar, a sampling machine, and several microphones. A 17-song album, Something Different is a departure from Miller's debut, Trying to be Cool. And, whereas most of the albums on CDBaby cost at least a dollar per song, Something Different winds up at well under a dollar a song!

Ideas to release the album started after fans began voicing the desire for a CD that captures the essence of a live Jeff Miller show. The disc is a collection of many new songs (including some instrumentals that were improvised on the fly), as well as some older original material that Jeff continues to perform at shows.

Jeff has been playing music for almost as long as he can remember. Starting with the violin at age 5, he has picked up many instruments and styles along the way. He concentrated mainly on violin and trombone, and classical and jazz music until his freshman year of high school.

During the summer before his freshman year of high school, Jeff made the decision to sell all his video games and buy his first guitar. Soon after, the guitar became his primary instrument, and Jeff fell in love with songwriting. The seeds of songwriting were sown during Jeff's high school years, and he was active in many groups, ranging from jazz bands and string quartets to a rock trio.

The musical journey continued when Jeff started classes at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Here he dual-majored in Songwriting and Guitar Performance and studied with the likes of Pat Pattison and Jon Finn. Jeff's songwriting really began to develop and take form at Berklee. It was during these years that Jeff performed and recorded with artists such as Mike Schmid, Stacy Phillips, and Stephan Sharp.

Since completing his dual-major degree in Songwriting and Guitar Performance in 2001, Jeff has played countless venues in the northeast US, won local acoustic competitions, and even traveled to South Korea, to play in a tour of US Air Force bases with the Dave Pahanish Band.

Something Different is Jeff's second full-length album. His debut album, Trying to be Cool, is available at http://cdbaby.com/jeffmiller
