Music has always been a gift to Shira. Born and raised in Austin, Texas, as a small child playing outdoors she would make up songs about God's creation, which she happily sang to her mother, and quickly forgot. âI would get excited and run inside to sing my little song for Mama. She was always very generous with her praise.â

School years brought the usual peer pressure and self-consciousness, and the innocent, spontaneous songs of a child were lost. Shira met Yeshua in her mid twenties and was filled with God's Ruach. He gave her an amazing freedom to worship Him. Not long afterward she was told that the Lord would give her "songs in the night", and that is when her songwriting began to soar. She says, "Thank God for the Holy Scriptures. They make the very best songs!"

While involved in church choir and singing solos, a friend entered her in a local Christian radio stationâs talent contest. âShe just tape recorded me singing one Sunday morning and sent it in to the station!â To make a long story short, Shira won best female southern gospel vocalist. As a result she recorded one of her songs âWhen Iâm this filled up with Godâ on KIXLâs Family Showcase of Talent album. To quote Jackson Boyett from KIXL Radio, â⦠It is our pleasure to present to you a large and varied sample of the best Christian musical talent in the Austin area.â

Shira graduated from Christ For the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas where she studied conversational Hebrew.
âI really love languages, especially Hebrew. It has been a tremendous asset in writing scripture songs. The anointing is already there in the words of the Bible.â
During her two years at CFNI she had the opportunity to sing before larger audiences. Over time the Lord brought even more invitations for her to sing in many congregations and special worship events including several in Israel.


With more than 300 original compositions of various styles it was hard to choose which ones to include on her debut CD.
âIt was during an intense time of worship that God impressed on my spirit the album was to be Messianic from start to finish.â

âI really wanted this to be the best quality recording possible so we contacted Rex Paul Schnelle, a brilliant musician/producer from Nashvilleâs Sony Studios. He graciously took on the project.
I absolutely love the guitar intros Rex created as well as all the other instrumentation. I am so pleased to have had the opportunity to work with him.â
