"Coming of Age" is the first release by Jeff Swann as a solo artist. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and moved to Centerville, Ohio in 1997. Having many bands throughout high school gave him ample time to define a style of music to play, but with so many influences, it stayed a very wide and open style.

In 2002, Jeff went on to study as an Information Systems and Professional Sales student at The University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. He is there to this day and will be graduating within a year.

A fan of many genres of music, his biggest influences are bands from the 1990s alternative era. With too many incredible artists to name (and some influences showing up on other CDBaby pages), listening to Jeff's music is the best way to understand where he gets his influences.

Writing during journeys through life, and across the country, "Coming of Age" was a work-in-progress from around 2000-2001. All songs were written and recorded by Jeff Swann and reflect different stages in his life.

The earlier part of this CD, tracks 1-3 show influence from more recent times before the album's completion with "Everything" being a song in existence since the mid 1990's and a favorite of Jeff's friends for years. The songs deal with simple concepts such as boredom and desire for something better, mixed with a rock/love song of a similar tone. The story follows a young man who is learning about his world in a new light.

Tracks 4 and 5 are without doubt, one of the calmer moments on the album, which reflect times of desperation and confusion. Where the hero in our story is unsure as to which path in life to take, and if he is already losing his way.

Back to more upbeat times, the next three tracks on the CD, 6, 7, and 8, represent more positive times and feeling content with life while searching for someone to share it with. The album's title track, "Coming of Age" comes in at number 8 and is the self-realization of our lead character about his journey as he begins to question his thinking and motives.

Starting with track 9, the CD begins its conclusion with a few calmer tracks about completing the search for fulfillment in life and looking back to confirm that everything will work out. The album's official final track, "Generation", is a conversation with a man on his death bed about his life. Someone who has lived to the fullest and simply awaiting the inevitable.

Jeff also works on side projects with two different artists and will be releasing albums with them in the next year or so, so keep your eyes and ears open.
