Guatemalan-American guitarist Carlos Bendfeldt, First Prize winner in the Artists International Youth Awards, received his bachelor of music degree in classical guitar performance in 1994 from the Manhattan School of Music with virtuoso Maestro Carlos Barbosa-Lima Nicholas Goluses, and Mark DelPriora, and his master's degree in performance from the Juilliard School of Music in 1997 where he was the student of the renowned virtuoso and Grammy winner Sharon Isbin.
His performances were featured on Infinita 100.3 FM(Guatemala-Central America), Radio Brava 105.3 FM (El Salvador-Central America), WETS-FM 98.5 FM (Johnson City, TN.-USA), WJHL-TV (Johnson City, TN.-USA), KDNK 90.5 FM (Carbondale, CO.-USA), KAJX 88.9 FM (Aspen, CO.-USA) and KGLN 980 AM (Glenwood Springs CO.-USA).
Mr. Bendfeldt gave his New York debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1997 and since then his concert career has blossomed to include a second appearance at Carnegie and major concerts through North and Central America, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Mr. Bendfeldt has performed with the Williamsburg, Virginia Symphony, as well as with the members of the Johnson City, TN Symphony performing the World Premier of Appalachian Harmony. Laserâs Edge Compact Disk String Attached Series, Alabama. Art Explosion 2000 Tennessee.
He has participated in various International and National music festivals which include the Aranjuez Guitar Series at Carnegie Recital Hall, New York, NY, the inauguration of the Francisco Marroquin University Music Festival Guatemala, Central America, The Puerto Rico Second Festival of Music of the 20th Century, The Guitar Festival Antigua Guatemala City, Central America, Jim Callaway Honors Series Colorado Mountain College, The Bellaire Music Festival High Mont, NY. All Star Guitar Festival Hawaii, The Breckenridge Music Festival CO, and The Rafael Landivar University Music Festival, Guatemala. Mr. Bendfeldt recently began touring Central America with Maestro Carlos Barbosa-lima since 2003. He has released a highly regarded CD which was awarded artist of the year in Guatemala in interpretation 2002. He has recently finished his newest CD âMiriamâ.
