Details:
With the release of his CD, "Breakin' Even," Jim Jones returns to his folk/western roots. The twelve original songs reflect the spirit of the Southwest- cowboy songs of the past and present, legendary figures of the West, both fictional and factual, love songs and songs of the road. It's a hard road but with a little luck, you might wind up breakin' even.

No, He's not the Guyana guy, he's the songwriter and yes, he's heard all the jokes. Jim Jones is a native Texan who has lived in New Mexico since 1991. He's not a real working cowboy but he has had an abiding interest in the West since he was a small boy growing up in Texas. Luckily, he has friends who are cowboys and every so often, they take him out to remind him of the difference between the real cowboys and the "wanna-be's." So far he's survived with his body, if not his dignity, intact. Jim is a two-time finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk songwriter competition and has recorded and/or produced twelve albums of his own or other's songs. He performed with the popular New Mexico group, the Band of Enchantment from 1996 to 2002 when he decided to return to his folk and western musical roots. He released the CD, "Breakin' Even," his first solo effort in twelve years, in November of 2002. Jim performs both solo and with ensembles comprised of some of the many talented New Mexico musicians he counts as his friends. He is actively involved with the songwriting community in New Mexico and has helped organize and produce a monthly songwriter showcase in Albuquerque featuring the talents of outstanding songwriters from all over New Mexico. Much to his wife's chagrin, he's already plotting his next couple of projects even though the ink is barely dry on the cover of his latest CD.
