At nineteen Gayle Caldwell wore a black-lace gown to sing in Carnegie Hall with the Roger Wagner Chorale. Then moved on to play tambourine and sing her lilâ heart out as an original member of The New Christy Minstrels, performing at the White House and recording six albums with the group which received a Grammy Award.

Following this and with Jackie, her New Christy Minstrel singing partner, Jackie and Gayle recorded for Capital Records and were featured on almost every television music and go-go show during the 60s.

She laughs, âWe were even featured in two very! B movies: Wild on the Beach and Wild Wild Winter. They werenât very wild. Once we shivered in bikinis while skiing down a Lake Tahoe slope mouthing one of our pre-recorded records.â

After playing âRebecca of Donny Brook Farmâ on the popular Beverly Hillbillies television series, she then devoted herself to her passion: song-writing.

A classically trained pianist with a varied and vast professional singing experience, Gayle has composed songs recorded by some of the greats: Frank Sinatra, who scored a hit with âCyclesâ(it is now considered a standard), Nancy Wilson, Astrud Gilberto, Eddie Arnold, Henry Mancini, Rickie Lee Jones, even then-teen idol Donny Osmund. She also recorded âCelebration of Life,â an album of her compositions on A&M Records.

Gayle has now completed her first independent CD, âAll Is One.â Nine of the songs are her compositions, a few others are her unique arrangements of old favorites. She plays piano and sings all vocals. Gayle lives on Californiaâs Mendocino Coast and is delighted with the recording.

âIn my den Iâve posted a New Yorker magazine cartoon which especially speaks to me. It pictures two horses standing in profile, face to face. One has a stubborn, irritated stance, while the more relaxed one says, Really, only you can tell yourself to giddyup.'â
