Details:
My name is John MacPherson, a one time business man from Revere MA. In the year 1990 my children gave me an alto saxophone for my 50th birthday. I left them the family business we were all working for at the time and headed for Key West to learn how to play the saxophone and live the life of a free spirit. It was there I met Joey Picasso, a street musician, who after listening to his stories of playing the saxophone on the streets of Europe, Canada and the United States, I decided, "that's what I want to do." In 1996 I spent the winter/spring in New Orleans as a street musician with my friend Trumpet Bob. In 1997, '98 I traveled the country as a street musician, subsidizing the adventure as a night watchman in Key West during the winter. I stayed the next few years in Key West, working nightwatch, honing my skills on the saxophone, playing a gig at the Blue Heaven Restaurant and busking out on Duval Street whenever I could. I have now retired to the life of a full time busker/musician. In 2004 I finished recording a CD of original songs at my son Billy's recording studio, J/R Digital Productions in Revere MA. Every time I would pass through Massachusetts on my travels we would add more to the CD. In october of 2004 the CD called "Sweet Mac's Blues" was completed. The musicians appearing with me on the CD are Billy MacPherson on guitar, keyboards and percussion; Paul Ferguson on bass; and Mark Leonard on drums and percussion. This collection of musicians brings together the sounds of blues, rock and jazz to create what I call a "feel good" album of songs.
