The past few years have seen a meteoric rise in the career of talented country music singer / song writer Billy Bridge.
Billy's first EP, Lonely, Lonely Town, was launched at the Long Yard Hotel, Tamworth during the 2002 Country Music Festival. On top of this release he graduated from the CMAA Australian College of Country Music in January 2002 and together with 21 peers performed on the opening night of the 2002 Tamworth Country Music Festival. He also received a nomination in the Coopers Golden Saddle Award during 2002.
The 2003 Tamworth festival was a great success with Billy making the top ten in the prestigious Toyota Star Maker quest. It also saw the release of his debut Album, "Post It Note Proposal". 2003 Also saw Billy be a grand finalist in the Trans Tasman Entertainer of the year, the Coopers Golden saddle award and various TSA songwriting awards. To cap off an outstanding year he was named Male Rising Star at the Independent Country Music Awards of Australia and then selected as a TOP 5 Finalist in the Country Music Awards of Australia in the Best New Talent Category. He was also awarded a TIARA award for best vocal collaboration with Karen O'Shea.
Billy was raised on a small farm outside of Moe in eastern Victoria. The youngest of 4 children, he grew up listening to his father sing the songs of Hank Williams, Charley Pride, Kenny Rogers and Jim Reeves. For as long as he can remember, music has been a part of Billy's life. Growing up in a musical family meant that music was never far away
As an eight-year-old Billy would sit alongside his father singing Bill Bailey, Baby Face and old Hank Williams songs at parties. Billy learnt to play the guitar through books and under the tuition of his brother Steve.
His new album is a great mix of traditional country and his own writings and his warm vocal style makes this album a listening pleasure.
"There is no doubting the country in his make-up" Jon Farkas, Country Music Capital News 2003
