Description:

(ID 380170)
Captivating lyrics drive a semi-truck of guitar-driven rock, blues and pop down a country road. Small towns, love stories and tall tales from the cosmic campfire named Earth. Kinda like John Mellencamp partying with Leanne Rimes and a lost bluesman.

ROCK: Roots Rock, COUNTRY: Modern Country

THREE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS RAISE EYEBROWS WITH THE RELEASE OF THEIR CONTROVERSIAL ROCK CD "BEST OF DAYS."

Long Beach, CA August 8, 2005 - - In a classic case of alter egos, two vice-principals and a high school counselor have released an energetic new rock cd bashing religious hypocrites and cable news while also poking fun at life, love, and bad bars. Songwriter/guitarist John Barney describes it as "kind of a Jekyll/Hyde type of thing. "We teach your kids good citizenship during the day and then rock our butts off at night." Lew Kerns and Reina Sanchez provide lead vocals while country crooner Eric Barnes rounds out the Eleventh Floor.

The "Floor" admit they stay out of trouble with the school board by not actively promoting their cd to students or parents. "But its great fun to play samples to students and watch their reaction," laughs John. "They go 'that's not you' when they hear us sing or wail on a guitar solo." The project originated out of years of jamming between Kerns and Barney, who met while attending college. "We'd play Neil Young and blues tunes until the wee hours of the morning and still manage to make class," recalls Barney.

"Best of Days" combines rootsy rock with touches of country, pop and blues. John, who also produced the CD, snarls when the subject of image comes up. "Just because we're not covered in tattoos and piercings - well not all of us," he smiles, "doesn't mean our music isn't as original, emotional or authentic as anyone elses. News flash - it's okay to not drop out of school. You can still be dark."

Don't make the mistake of thinking John Barney and the "Floor" don't take their music seriously. "You may end up in my office on a discipline referral," laughs Barney. "And check out my guitar song 'Waiting for the Sun.' It's the only one I sing on and I get to torch my guitar!"
