Having run out of ideas for clever birthday presents, I decided in the fall of my senior year of high school to learn how to play one of my mom's favorite songs on my dad's old guitar. Despite the painful outcome of that first song (regardless of what my mom might say) I really became passionate about playing the guitar and soon found myself giving hours of my day away to this small wooden box. About a year and a half later, while finishing up with my freshman year at Miami University (that's in Ohio, by the way) I began writing songs. Some three years after that, in May of '05, with my degree hot off the presses, my debut album "Leaving Myself Behind" was released.

"Leaving Myself Behind" is filled with real-life songs from my past, the past of some of my friends, and fears I have about the future. I really believe that sincerity is much more attractive than showmanship or being impressive, so I write songs about how I see life and the lessons I learn from the things I've seen and experienced. Hopefully through the words I sing and the stories I tell, people will find pieces of themselves in my songs and when they do, life might make a little more sense.
