TOWANTA

Towanta R. Leon resides in New York. She learned the art of "Tickling the Ivories" before she could even talk. Towanta was encourages by one uncle who sang oper & another who is a jazz and blues guitarist.
As early as kindergrten, Towanta has been performing and entertaining adult audiences & her peers. Inspirational performers include James Brown, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Sade, & Luciano Pavarotti.

At the tender age of 5, Towanta unknowingly expressed the ability to captivate an audience. Towanta recalls the 1st time during her recess period after lunch. Normally the children would go outside to play, but this time it rained. Activities were held in the cafeteria where coincidentally there was a piano. Some of the kids were playing nursery tunes on the piano along with the teacher; appropriate to the age-group. When Towanta sat to the piano she played "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven and "Hill Street Blues." At the age of 11, her parents bought her 1st keyboard & karaoke machine at PC Richards.

From "Hill Street Blues" to rhythm and blues, Towanta started comosing music. Not only is Towanta a talented keyboard (pianist) player, she plays the drums, tenor saxophone, clarinet, and guitar. Towanta also sings in a 2 and a half octave range.

Towanta creates music on the Korg D1600 digital recording workstation, and the Motif 8 music workstation/sampler.

Towanta possesses a MS in Secondary Education & a BA in Natural Science and Mathematics with a concentration in Biology & a Minor in Creative Writing. She is efficient, business minded, time conscious and professional.

After years of honing her skills, Towanta is prepared to be a tngible asset to the collective.
