A mellow and melodic lyrical expression of my life's experiences.
12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Power-folk, ROCK: Folk Rock
Details:
My interest in music began when I was very little. I grew up listening to all of my mom and dad's records with a huge pair of headphones on my head. I listened to Peter, Paul and Mary as well as John Denver and the Mamas and the Pappas. I would listen to those albums over and over again until I knew every word by heart.
In 6th grade a close friend of mine, Caroline Gross and her older sister, Sandra introduced me to the Indigo Girls. I remember sitting on stage with them at the 9:30 club in Washington, DC and from that moment I was hooked. Close to 16 years later, I still find the Indigo Girls to be extremely influential to my music. Through the Indigo Girls, I was introduced to a number of bands from the Atlanta area like Billy Pilgrim, Kristen Hall, and Michelle Malone.
It was not until my senior year in high school that I would finally pick up a guitar and start to play. Shortly after I began to play, my cousin Chad picked up the guitar and we formed a band named Lynk. Playing with Chad continued to shape the direction of my music.
Now, close to ten years after picking up the guitar for the first time, I am releasing my first independent project, Broken.
In early April 2003, I began recording some songs at a studio in Columbus, Ohio. Initially, the project was intended to be a 10 song acoustic cd. But by mid-May, the direction of the project had completely changed. Local drummer, Dan Boyd, and local bassist, Steve Schappert joined me on the CD. Chad Heald added some harmony vocals and lead guitar tracks and Megan Meyer added some violin.
This cd contains songs written over a 3 year period and explores pretty much every element of my life during that three years. Please enjoy the cd and if you have time to drop me a line, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for listening!
