Details:
Out of the ashes of the band "Atomic Fantasy", the project known as Joyslam was forged. Vocalist/Keyboardist RJ Martine ventured out to create a unique Funk/Rock sound. An integration of various musical styles including Jazz, Latin, Ska and Reggae.
Martine's charisma, presence, and superb vocal abilities are clearly the defining sound and vision of Joyslam, "RJ puts on one of the most fun, intense and sexy shows I've seen in a long, long time" was said of Joyslam's Vocalist by Wanted Dead or Alive magazine in it's May 2002 issue - where as Joyslam's rhythm section compliments that intensity by delivering a sound that is one of astounding groove and presence with the rare and unique ability to balance both technicality and feel. While the guitar flows with a uniquely fluid and diverse sound with an uncompromising precision. Murray Pollard, of Murray Pollard Entertainment said of one of Joyslam's most recent shows "An Excellent show as always! A Great time was had by all!"
Recent events saw Joyslam as the winner of Toronto Computes & Now Magazine's esteemed Coolest Tunes Contest which was bombarded with over 50,000 song entries. Joyslam has also obtained the Broadcast version of the Music video for their first single "Empty" which was aired Nationally on APTN-TV's Saturday Night Café. Strong bass lines and slaps accent the ranging vocals which propel this high-energy dance hook laden song or "Red Hot Chili Peppers Eat your hearts out!!" as quoted by Gail O'Donnell of the prestigious CMMRA, the Canadian Musical Rights and Licensing Association. Joyslam is also receiving continual Video & Airplay on ETV Network, XFM Satellite Radio, XAM/Urban Underground Radio, AF Radio Network, and Japan's "Yellow Beat" hosted by DJ's Miko & Chris.
