Details:
judithstar's debut release "Fossils", is a quartet of songs that does what pop music is supposed to do --lodge itself in your head, and stay there.

judithstar* is the creation of songwriting duo Tracy McMillan (vocals, keyboards), and Brett Lyda (guitars, backing vocals). McMillan and Lyda formed a band the first night they played together, and put it onstage just weeks after that, in January 2001.

The pair released its debut, "Fossils", to excellent reviews in publications like "The Big Takeover", and websites including, "Venuszine", "MishMash", "Muse'sMuse" and many others. Songs from "Fossils" got airplay everywhere from KCRW in Los Angeles, to Swedish National Radio.

judithstar* music is featured in the independent film "The Hundred Mile Rule", which will receive a theatrical release in Spring 2003. It stars Maria Bello of "Coyote Ugly" and "ER", as well as "Spinal Tap" legend Michael McKean and HBO's Jake Weber.

"We've had some amazing opportunities," says Tracy, of the band's quick ascent. "We got asked to play at the AFI Film Festival's reception for Oscar-winning director Ang Lee. That was a big honor, because we both have a background in film and we think he's great." The band also opened for Atlantic/Lava recording artist David Garza, and has toured the West Coast.

Tracy McMillan is originally from Minneapolis. She has a journalism degree from the University of Utah and supported herself as a television news writer. She started singing five years ago, after realizing it's better to die trying than to give up before you even start.

Brett Lyda was born in San Antonio, TX and moved to Los Angeles at age five. He holds a film degree from San Francisco State University, and won an award for his short, "Kappos". judithstar* is currently recording a full length album, tentatively titled, "Two".
