A catchy blend of folk, pop, and bluegrass that centers on melody and acoustic musicianship, featuring Arkansas fiddle champion, Jarvis Holloway.
9 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Folk Pop, COUNTRY: Country Pop
Details:
Judy Olson has been writing songs since age 14.
In the 80's, she had several songs receive national airplay on country stations, including "We need a Saturday night", which debuted on the country charts.
This most recent record is a return to her roots: unadorned, organic, and soulful songwriting with beautiful melodies.
With musicians Bill Sparks on Mandolin, her son Ryan on guitar, Bill Rowlett on Bass, and the violin/guitar of Jarvis Holloway, Two Plus One is a nice blend of folk, pop, and occasional country. Vocally, Judy is often compared to Karen Carpenter, which she considers high praise.
Judy and company much prefer to record a collection of songs in an intimate quiet studio without all the metronomes and overproduction that often sterilize much of today's music.
If you like mandolin, Bill does a beautiful job on these songs, and Jarvis' violin playing on tracks Sunshine Love and the immensely catchy Mexico is a perfect complement. Also, Judy has a lovely solo acoustic performance of the Beatles' 'I Will', one of our favorite Lennon/McCartney tunes. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed recording it.
Thanks for visiting!
