Details:
Now based in Milwaukee, Mary Karlzen has just released her latest album, "Dim The Watershed".
A long time South Florida area favorite, Karlzen is extremely proud of the new album, which she self produced with help from Mark Bryan (guitarist for Hootie and The Blowfish) and Fred Freeman.
The album was recently released on South Florida indie; Y&T Music and is now available at CD Baby.
Karlzen's previous album, "Yelling at Mary," was released on Atlantic Records in 1995 and featured guest appearances by Jackson Browne, David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty), Kenny Aronoff (Indigo Girls & John Mellancamp) and Kay Hanley (Letters to Cleo).
Produced by Kevin McCormick (Melissa Etheridge), the album was embraced by major music critics across the country and the video for "I'd Be Lying" was on regular rotation on VH1 and CMT.
Karlzen is also a featured artist on both of Atlantic's top selling Christmas albums; "You Sleigh Me" and "Winter, Fire & Snow".
Karlzen has shared the stage with some of the preeminent songwriters of our generation including Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Nanci Griffith, John Hiatt, Lucinda Williams, Indigo Girls and others.
A small sampling of reviews for "Yelling at Mary":
"Karlzen never sounds like an imitator; she seems more like the equal of Sheryl Crow and Nanci Griffith. If you listen closely, in fact, you'll find that Karlzen rocks harder and more infectiously than her better known colleagues" - GEOFFREY HIMES - Washington Post
"This refreshing major-label debut is a polished work of folk-tinged rock." - DAVID ELLIS - People Magazine
"A powerful major-label debut from a woman whose voice and songwriting display a beguiling mix of grit and grace, cynicism and childlike wonder" - Billboard Magazine
"What really pulls Karlzen out from the parade of hopeful newcomers is her lyrics" - MIRIAM LONGINO - Atlanta Journal Constitution
