i am echo is the solo project of Pat Leishman. Pat wrote, performed and recorded all the music you'll experience here.

Though born in Utah, Pat spent many of his formative years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he wrote his first songs using an Ensoniq sampler. He currently resides in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pat cites Pat Metheny, Radiohead, Dream Theater, and many others as musical influences.

Pat's primary guitar is a Fender Stratocaster through a Vox AC30 amp and a variety of pedals. He also uses a Schecter Diamond series active bass, a salvaged Larrivee Acoustic, M-Audio Keyboards with Reason samples, and PDP Drums when recording.

On the subject of song writing, "As much as I'd like to think I'm in control of a song, I'm not. I can only make a song what it wants to be. I give it a jump start with a feeling or experience, but after that, any attempt at changing it's direction will only make it worse. It's like every song is the sentient embodiment of an emotion or thought, complete with a will of it's own. You are no longer playing the song through an instrument, it's playing itself through you." Pat has written hundreds of songs and will continue recording the best of them as quickly as his perfectionism will allow.
