As for the moment, she's a solo lady-bomb from Manhattan with a dark past in the ATL. Before that, she lived off Highway 80 in Alabama all her life. She listened to the trucks rushing by in the distance and watched the walls slowly cracking. A bit of these haints can be found in the lacings of each track.

Her main trip right now is getting educated. Even more. She starts her second Master's at NYU in the fall, and GOD, her head is big. Her novel is 42 chapters long and just laden with demonic backward sapphic code, references to numerology, and floriographic messaging. She needs a damn agent for it. You can find her poetry, other publishings, and reviews of previous releases and live shows by going to google and typing in her name just like genies do.

Her first CD, STATION (2001, Prod. Kate & Eric Reed) used to be available through another unmentionable distribution company, but then they became another unmentionable distribution company and took all her money. It's still there, but she doesn't get paid for it. Just write her an e-mail if you want one. She mails out hand-painted litter boxes with every copy.

Her second full-length CD, "So Long, Magdalene," is on hold for release later in 2005 (Prod., Kate & Eric Reed), and TILT, this collection of four songs you've obviously stumbled upon, is the elegaic seed on which her future treehouses are hung.

We guarantee, you won't be able to find much more than a guitar and few voices swarming in your ears--sweet, sweet bees. Lord Colin Marston of Brooklyn set up all sorts of exquisite microphone arrangements and she loved every moment of it. "When Kate began writing and performing in 1991, she was influenced by the neo-folk folks, but she's progressed beyond that now. Her performances are charged with voyeuristic passion, like Fiona Apple writing in a diary, minus the bass drum reliance. The voice, in the Paula Cole range. The poetry, reminiscent of K. D. Lang. The music, a shadow, flitting through alt-rock country. 'After You' is like a balladic version of 'Where Have All The Cowboys Gone,' but with a Pink Floyd backdrop around it, a backing sound of low, moaning synth, a subtle ghost of a subsidy vocal that travels around the somewhat bleak soundscape of darkness. Like listening to Enigma in the closet, with most of the beat removed (but not the trippy drums) and all of the chant gone. A house of closets is how I'd describe Kate's moving from station to Station. As lyrically potent as the cd is, I'm half-surprised to see that the words to the songs aren't printed in the booklet. Only half though, because I know what it costs for an up and coming artist to afford a multi-page booklet in with the cd. Still, would be nice if she'd put the lyrics up on the website - then I could really quote some emotions. It's surprising to hear that these 8 tracks were laid down on a 4-track recorder. Rather revamps my confidence in the homemade sound again, if songs of This quality can be constructed on such a popular machine. So if you're an artist who doesn't think much of non-studio sessions, listen to Kate's movement and learn."
