Details:
KC Cherie is the real thing - the genuine article. She dances, she sings, she does it all...and makes it look easy. The Atlanta native demands our attention. So who is this Georgia peach and what's her story?
In 1980, KC Cherie' entered the world at the dawn of a great new era in music, bringing with her an all-natural brand of talent and charisma. Once a national ice-skating champion, KC left the rink behind in pursuit of a new form of expression - it didn't take her long to realize dancing was it. During her 23 years of life, she has refined her skills and proven herself willing to work hard and meet challenges time and time again. Said Lynn Stallings, an Atlanta-based theater owner, "it is her intense energy on stage that forces audiences to take notice. She is all heart when she performs, understanding that without an honest communication between audience and performer, there is nothing." As a teenager, she quickly gained a reputation as an electrifying entertainer who wasn't afraid to give all she had...every time.
As a kid, KC's passion for the stage and her tireless drive to succeed landed her great jobs in music, dance, theatre, and film. From hosting a TV show (where she actually got to interview Michael Jackson and INXS) to being a Star Search finalist, KC stayed busy 24-7. She even took dance classes from Gregory Hines and other icons in the dance community. Years later, she took another important step when she managed to earn an enviable spot as a dancer for the Radio City Rockettes, which she continued to do for years to come. Only seventeen years old at the time of her initial audition, she had to slightly "exaggerate" her age to get the gig! Said KC, "Being a Rockette is being a part of history! I was able to work beside the most elite group of choreographers and dancers in the world. Plus we were always treated like stars everywhere we went, and we got to meet and perform for celebrities like Dustin Hoffman, Leann Rimes, Natalie Cole, Hugh Heffner, Dick Clark, and others. We went on Jay Leno and the Donny and Marie show...it was truly the experience of a lifetime!"
Now a seasoned pro who makes her living teaching dance to people of all ages, KC Cherie' is ready for a new challenge. After meeting singer, songwriter, and producer Erik Grant Bennett in 2000, she was inspired to bring to the forefront her long-time dream of becoming a recording artist. They began talking about music and listening to music, eventually reaching a shared vision about what to do and how to do it. This further solidified her determination to make her mark as an entertainer. After spending over a year in The Beehive recording studio, she has completed a CD of original material, entitled "Fallen Angel". This venture has allowed KC to explore some of her previously unknown talents, getting to co-write all of the songs with the CD's producer. The songs combine sincere lyrics with stirring melodies and fierce grooves. A product of the original MTV generation and a true child of the 80's, KC has created in her music a unique blend of such memorable acts as Prince, Madonna, Duran Duran, and Kool & the Gang, but with a fresh, modern production. The musicians on "Fallen Angel" are truly first-rate...the best of the best.
To get the whole story, though, you would have to know a little about KC, the person. She is strong, yet kind - confident, yet humble. She has fun, but remains focused. She has a mission, but still keeps an open mind. She is a teacher, and yet always a student. While she is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, she is already blessed to be able to wake up every day and do what she loves.
