Michael Gilbert Ronstadt has studied and performed on cello for fourteen years, and in addition to his classical focus, he is comfortable with a wide range of musical styles, including bluegrass, Andean, acoustic, southwestern folk, mariachi, jazz and rock. Michael has given performances throughout Arizona, New Mexico, California, Colorado, S. Pennsylvania, Ohio, Upstate New York, N. Kentucky, E. Indiana, and Sonora, México. In addition to traditional cello repertoire, Michael Ronstadt enjoys performing and premiering new cello works, including pieces by Liz Malys, Carlos Velez, Darijus Spakauskas, and Michael Ippolito. On top of giving solo performances, Michael Ronstadt actively performs as a member of the Suono Violin/Cello Duo, the Gypsum Ensemble, and is cellist for Josh Hisle (Lost In Holland).
Mr. Ronstadtâs discography includes his solo albums in 2006 and 2008, two CD releases by Desert Rain, Start of the Storm (1998), and Through the Storm (2002). TG Express recorded Mutual Corruption in 2005, along with a demo EP in 2004. In 1999, his former rock band, 9am, released their album, Seriously Though. His collaborations have enhanced Jude Nicholsonâs project, Living Alone (2006), and The Goodbye Kissâs self titled EP for Goodcore Records in 2005. Michael Ronstadt performs on Amber Norgaardâs Rising (2006) and Acoustic Dreams (2007). In 2004, 2005, and 2006, Michael contributed cello parts to each of the three albums, Volume I, II, and III respectively, for the Santa Cruz River Band. Additional projects by Bobby Ronstadt (1999), Art Andrade (1998), and Dean Maier (2005) include Michaelâs work.
