Details:
âMe & My Best Friendsâ is Bob Levy's second CD, that celebrates some old and new collaborations. More diverse than "OUT IN THE COLD," Bob's first jazz CD collection that he released in 2006, this new project reunites him with composer David Coons, and three new writing partners: Karen Jacobsen, Dennis Livingston and Harriet Goldberg. It also brings together multi-talented producer, arranger and musician, Jamey Whiting with gifted vocalists Perry Danos who was featured on Bob's first jazz CD and two-time 2008 Grammy nominee, Carolyn Martin whoâs exquisite voice is reminiscent of Rosemary Clooney. Also on this new CD of original jazz, blues & pop songs are some old friends: vocalists John Foster, Juli Maners, Mike Lusk, Shelly Miller and special guests, Karen Jacobsen and Dane Vannatter. The talented musicians: Jamey Whiting on keyboards, Andy Reiss and Penn Pennington on guitar, John Vogt on bass and Ray Von Rotz on drums. Some old 'FRIENDS' and some new 'FRIENDS' join forces to create this exciting, eclectic mix of jazz ballads, bossas and swing in the style of The Great American Songbook.
When Bob Levy released his first CD "OUT IN THE COLD", he had no idea it would lead him to many wonderful, talented and supportive new friends in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, WDC and Toronto. Outstanding award-winning jazz and cabaret vocalists who have embraced his songs and have allowed him to become a part of this wonderful jazz/cabaret community. Bob had always dreamt of having a show in New York City that would feature his songs, performed by incredibly talented singers. That dream became a reality on June 24, 2007, at The Laurie Beechman Theater on West 42nd Street, thanks to his dear friends, Sue Matsuki and Dane Vannatter who co-hosted his show. "A MUSICAL CELEBRATION, The Songs of Bob Levy" starred seven outstanding singers performing eighteen of Bob's songs from this new CD and âOUT IN THE COLDâ to a sold-out house in New York. They were: Barbara Brussell, Laurie Krauz, Marcus Goldhaber, Sue Matsuki, Dane Vannatter, Vincent Wolfe and Ronny Whyte. The musical director and pianist was Tedd Firth, along with Steve Doyle on bass and George Farrell on drums.
BOB LEVY,is an award-winning Songwriter and Lyricist. A 2008 MAC Award nominee for "THIS TIME," a song he co-wrote with Karen Jacobsen that is on this new CD. Bob is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers(ASCAP), The Connecticut Songwriters Association, Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs and The Boston Association of Cabaret Artists. His first CD and his NYC showcase garnered high praise from reviewers and jazz enthusiasts in NYC and around the country.
