This is a first in a series planned for release based on bands and musicians dating back to the 1950's Traditional Jazz Revival in San Francisco, California. Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band, Turk Murphy, the Bay City Jazz Band, and the Salty Dogs Jazz Band from the 1950's all come to mind.
On this first CD we have an assorted variety of tunes and some famous and not so famous musicians who have made their mark in this genre over the years. Players like:Leon Oakley, Ev Farey, Bob Short, Jack Carrell, Bob Neighbor, Bob Helm(who have all played with the Turk Murphy Jazz Band). We have Jim Snyder, Tom Bartlett, Buzz Reynolds, Frank Chace, John Cooper, Randy Wilkinson, Jack Lord, Jerry Jordan, Dick Karner, Bob Rann, Bob Bonsack, Jim 'Whip' Williams whom all are veterans of the Salty Dogs Jazz Band, along with Birch Smith and Dick Mushlitz, the co-founders of the Salty Dogs in 1947.Many other players are also on these sides.
The music speaks for itself not only for it's historical value, but for the stomping, toe tapping, happy sounding return to the days of the great Trad Jazz Revival! Enjoy!
