Kim was born and raised in Maine. She has been singing since she could speak, wordsmithing since she could write. She lives life with passion, which is mirrored in her songs. She is a musical melting pot, pulling inspiration from a broad array of influences.
Laughter, tears, sighs, astonishment, knowing grins---these are some of the emotional manifestations among people hearing her take her audience on a musical roller coaster ride for the first time.
Her audiences from Maine to the Desert Southwest have responded positively to her intelligent, heartfealt, melodic and often spicy slices of real life. The lyrics transport listeners through loves lost and found and tap into life's lessons learned from the death of a child to a long lonely trek across the flat roads of Texas.. One of her songs--"The Wanting Game," a ballad about the not quite attainable, won her a Downeast Country Music Assn. song of the year. That is her life, a passionate "Wanting Game" that has spawned what many of her fans call songs easily adapted to a number of genres, including hot female alternative folk, traditional and new country, adult contemporary, folk-n-roll, blues. The "hot biscuits" might refer to her penchant for up-tempo emotional outbursts on the tasteful edge of raunchy! Her sassy expressive and versatile voice, with it's wide range, is a unique mix of Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Pheobe Snow, and Joni Mitchell.
Kim consistantly plays to full houses. She has opened for national acts like Bill Stains and Dave Mallett and placed as a songwriting finalist at the 2004 Tucson Folk Festival. Her ability to connect with her audiences prompted one fan to write, "I have heard her CD's and she is even better in person" (She has) a voice and spirit like Joan Baez."
Her first recording, "It's Only Natural" which featured a dozen of her early songs has sold out, to be re-released in 2004. Her recent release, "Every Last Drop" enjoys consistant sales at every performance. A soon to be released third project, "On The Way To Somewhere Else" will be in stores by Fall 2004.
