King Kool is a kicking breed of rock. Two personnel make up the outfit but produce a big fat sonic akin to all their heroes, Pixies, Blues Explosion, Sonic Youth, Stooges, Queens of the Stone Age to boot.
Crowland, Fenland UK June 2005 caught old muso mates kicking jams for old times sake. Matt Middleton and Dan Donovan have been part and parcel of many musical enterprises. Cult greb goth outfit Tribe of Dan (1 & 2), the dark brooding Trashbone Thang and minimal album The Leaven Dell all had significant input and marked collaboration from these two guys.

The afternoon in Crowland was fruitful and they were both drawn to the idea of doing something together again musically. The brief here was to create a full blown electric outfit without a bass player, keyboard player etc involved. Loud electric guitar, full on drum kit and two vocals is where King Kool are coming from. Both guys have an interest in unique performance and song writing. Matt and Dan have a mutual appreciation and understanding of each other and their influences. Playing together again is a breeze.

As the two members live some distance apart, Donovan recorded vocals and guitars and emailed these audio tracks over to Middleton who then recorded his drum parts and vocals, bounced them down and returned them to Donovan with the tracks mixed! This way they started exchanging audio files and writing tunes.

By September 05 12 tracks had been recorded and in true independent spirit King Kool release their first album.

With a passion for aesthetics and music there will be some exploration into the moving picture realm. Matt has studied Film and Sound Technology and Dan has explored many aesthetic trips with video work. This is another facet of King Kool that will find it's fulfilment within this project.
