Lj Boogie (A.K.A.) L. Boogie (A.K.A) Boogie (A.K.A.) Boogie Knights (A.K.A.) L.J. (A.K.A.) Boogie Man (A.K.A.) L. Dingle (A.K.A.) Dingle-Man (A.K.A.) The Dingle Warrior (A.K.A.) Suga Fut (A.K.A.) Gan-pa's Boy![by by Grand Daddy].....(A.K.A.)Leroy S. Dingle Jr. (Government Name) Yep, thatâs the name given at birth. When I was a toddler my neighbors use to call me L.J., but because I was born in the 70âs and my parents were young house party hosts, the term boogie was in all their choice music. My mom started calling me Boogie, and the name stuck. If you grew up in my town you knew that Leroy Sr. sonâs name was Boogie. I am older now but the name hasnât gone away. I told someone that grew up in the neighborhood that sold insurance now and my signs were all around town. She told me she saw my fatherâs signs for insurance but she had never seen mine. I told her that if she was looking for signs that said Boogie Dingle Life Insurance, she wouldnât fine them. All that to say my music name is L.j. Boogie, but the name of my sounds are called L.J. Boogie Beats. Now this L.J. is not for Leroy Junior, it is for Lord Jesus! This is my Hero. Without him, truly I couldnât have done any of this. So when you see me on the award shows giving honor to God, I am talking about the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.
Growing up in S.C. in the 80âs there was noone giving out lessons on how to produce a CD⦠well back then it was a cassette tape. So we made it happen in a small 8x8 bedroom. We had that original beat machine, a Yamaha synthesizer, a hand me down dual case player, and 2 little skinny old school microphones. It was Bass 1 (Jai Ferguson), Rhyme 1, who later became Y-Me, (Yoruba Randall), and Me Power-L [LOL!], who later became L.j.Boogie, Leroy S. Dingle Jr. We made songs about girls and our hood: âLoretta, Loretta, Loretta, Loretta, Lore----ttaâ, and Haynesville Posse 24/7 Wax you Base⦠âSwing the Axeâ. That was fun every day at school Jai would always clear his throat while talking and say âA man we got to make a tape.â Y-me is still to this day the best free style MC out there Hands Down⦠He grew up in New York learning from Just-ICE who gave him a shot out on his track âGoing Way Backââ¦âI can forget my boy, Big Knot(Thatâ s what he called Yoruba⦠Cause he had a Big Knot on the back of his head)â Yoruba taught me how to listen to rap and for the words that were put together by the MC. If the words were descriptive with meaning than that MC would be around for a while. If the MC had only lyrics that rhyme, but no meaning, then they would more than likely drop off after their first hot song or first record. I learned that good music could make up for average or below average MCs. People fall in love with the beat and pay no attention to the MC until the second song or second album release and the beats were not as hot.
My music is a mixture of a lot of sounds: De La Soul. Who remembers âThree Feet High and Risingâ, Black Sheep, Jungle Brothers, Nice and Smooth, Tribe-Called-Quest, Dr. Dre, Timberland, Neptunes, Jay-Z, and Kanye West.
I have a feeling you will enjoy this Project. Be on the look-out for my next project. Thank you so much for your support.
