Details:
The Stone Brothers over take their audience with a solid wall of sound energy and intensity that pours out of five guys playing at the top of their game. Their line -up includes veteran players who have played everywhere from local club scenes to international festival circuits. Like all great rock acts, The Stone Brothers combine their original signature sound with a classic feel rooted deeply in the blues tradition...Sly Stone's funk meets the double guitar attack of AC/DC.
The band suffered the tragic death of its first lead singer, Richard Johnson, in January 2000. Although Richard's physical presence is gone, his spirit continues to be an inspiration to the band. After three grueling years of unproductive auditions, the band was ready to call it quits until Dean Bowman arrived on the scene. While best known for his lead vocal duties for Warner Brother 's recording artist, The Screaming Headless Torsos, Dean has also per formed alongside jazz greats like Charlie Hunter, Don Byron and Uri Caine. Dean's vocals range from a delicate whisper to a gruff and wailing shriek - the perfect compliment for the Stone Brothers' dynamic sound.
The guitar players for the band, Josh Keller and Sam Cohen, play a pair of matching guitars and trade off licks like twins blessed with a gift for mental telepathy. A fan once dubbed them the "Stone Brothers," for their hard riffs and uncompromising musical tastes. Josh began his career in NYC, but really honed his skills on the Philadelphia blues scene. Sam perfected his chops while playing NYC clubs for the past ten years. Brian Elliot (bass) and Yancy Drew (drums) round out the rhythm section of the band. Throughout the 90's, Yancy toured the US and Europe with the Brooklyn Funk Essentials (RCA, Shanachie). Brian has been playing with the band for four years not only is he the loudest player around, he's also a master of feel and rhythm.
Fortunately for all of us, the Stone Brothers decided the show must go on...and this is one show not to be missed!
