ROCK: Classic Rock, POP: Beatles-pop

Details:
"GREAT DAY AT THE FUNERAL PARLOR"... What the...? It takes a twisted mind to write a happy, boppy song about funerals from the perspective of the mortician - "Mr. Lockhart is looking his best, laying on satin in a teri-cloth vest, a satisfied customer, a satisfied guest..."

"CONVERSATION WITH A MIRROR" isn't much better once you finally realize that this argument takes place between the same person. Fortunately, not all of the songs are this clever.

Tim Kwiat (pronounced "quiet"), A songwriter from Lancaster, PA. puts forth his 2004 solo effort by writing, singing, and playing every part of this album. "Mystic Ocean" is a collection of fresh and interesting classic rock & roll style recordings, contemplative lyrics, light moods, and melodic hooks. The self-proclaimed "jack of all trades, master of none" certainly holds his own by performing acoustic guitar, playful bass lines, and an old-school style of drumming, embellished with a wide range of interesting electric guitar parts, piano, organ, and a ton of assorted persussion instruments. Additionally, he sings all lead and backing vocal arrangements that could easily be placed among our classic rock heroes.

Strong emphasis is placed on harmony, without being overly lush or overdone. Sometimes rock, sometimes pop, sometimes psychadelic, sometimes folk - this record is a composit of various styles, but remains consistent. All in all, "Mystic Ocean" is a very straight forward record with a certain spiritual quality that will offer new perspectives with repeated listening.
