Details:
Ever since Colin Clark had released âThe Best of Colin Clarkâ, heâs been asked when his next one will be coming out.
Now the time has come for a new CD, not just with Colin, but also with his Danish band âThe Ghost Ridersâ, whom he met in April 2001.
As far as The Ghost Riders are concerned, itâs the first time theyâve recorded a CD together, so one could call âTrucking Back With The Ghost Ridersâ their début CD.
Colin Clark and The Ghost Riders represent traditional country music, and they play numbers by known artists like Waylon Jennings, Don Williams and, not least of all, Johnny Cash, of which this CD bears the mark.
The CD contains 13 good traditional numbers, both old and new, on which they have their stamp.
The first song on the CD, Trucking Back Home To Texas, was written by one of Colinâs English acquaintances, Erik Hatton, in conjunction with Colin. The song deals with a truck-driver whoâs been on the go for several months, and his only company has been the country music he hears on the radio.
As Colinâs voice lies close to that of a certain Johnny, itâs only natural for Colin Clark and The Ghost Riders that some of Johnny Cashâs songs are on the CD. We find Ghost Riders In The Sky â The Greatest Cowboy Of Them All â Big River â Ring Of Fire and Ways Of A Woman In Love.
Don Williams has popularized that beautiful song Gypsy Woman.
The Last Train Home To Georgia is written by an American country-singer/songwriter Glynn Martin, whom Colin met in 2000. The Song is a tragic story about a father of a family suddenly losing his beloved wife. Now heâs grown old and sits in his rocking-chair remembering happier days, and every time he hears the train-whistle blow, he still feels that he has to catch the last train home to Georgia.
There Ainât One Tomorrow is written by one of Colinâs friends, country-singer/songwriter Paul Mateki from Texas. The lyrics are very traditional. They describe a man sitting and drinking in a bar, while he thinks about what heâs lost because of too much carrying-on women and too much hanging-out in bars. His wife has left him and taken everything with her, except the cat.
Black Train is written by Colin Clark and is a fresh recording of the same song that one can find on his previous CD, âThe Best Of Colin Clarkâ.
Four States To Go and Isom Dart have been recorded by Colin in Nashville and for Comstock Records, Arizona, which is owned by Frank Fara. Itâs also Frank Fara that has written the words and music to these two numbers, and his wife Patty Parker is the producer.
Isom Dart was released as a single in 1998, and was well received by country radio stations round about in Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Both songs were recorded in Chelsea Studios with some of the best session-men, including Sonny Garrish on pedal steel.
Santa is a bonus-track: a merry little Xmas ditty that leaves room for some customary sentimentality. Itâs written by Colinâs English friend Ray Hides, who played rhythm guitar in his old band in England. Colin has had a hand as well in co-ordinating the lyrics and music.
The Ghost Riders consist of:
Colin Clark: Vocals
Torben Holther Olesen: Lead Guitar, mouth-organ and acoustic guitar
Søren Sørensen: Bass guitar and backing vocals
Ulf Taube: Rhythm guitar
Andrew McGhie: Keyboards
Lasse Brandt: Drums
