Blues & more from Austin, Texas featuring melodic, original tunes and sultry vocals by fetching guitarist Lauren Dillon -- acoustic ballads to electric rockers and all points between.
12 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Acoustic Blues, FOLK: Folk Blues
Details:
"The Cost of Living" -- #9 on The Euro Americana Chart -- December, 2004!!
A native of West Virginia and Tennessee, Lauren Dillon cut her teeth on the music of the sixties and seventies songwriter movement, graduating to acoustic/country blues, electric blues and rock' n' roll. A natural on guitar, she began performing in Knoxville at the age of fourteen. A fast bond was formed when she was referred Warner Brother's songwriter, Marianne Phelps, for voice lessons. Later, Lauren joined Marianne as lead guitar player in the duo "Two Much Fun", opening for acts like Billy Joe Shaver and Lou Ann Barton in the Central Texas area.
An award-winning songwriter, Lauren's material is revealing and honest. Her debut CD, the "Cost of Living" features twelve original tracks, both thematically and stylistically diverse. The mix of songs keeps the album interesting, and her guitar work, including bottleneck slide, is featured on most of the tracks. She has been likened to a female Lyle Lovette and Sara Hickman described Lauren as "a wondrous guitar player and songwriter/singer a la Bonnie Raitt."
Determination and ongoing physical therapy have enabled Lauren to make a near-complete recovery following a potentially career-ending hand injury and reconstructive surgery in 2003 (watch out for those Mack trucks!). The Cost of Living, available at www.laurendillon.com and CD Baby.
