A musical journey with infectious melodies and lyrical symbolism, blended with a unique sense of harmony.

Libby Lavella's sound has recently been described by the LA Times as Pop Soul fusion. Soulful execution, pop based song structure, lyrically laced with symbolism, harmonically unique with very catchy melodies.

Born and bred in Australia, with Italian heritage, she now lives in Los Angeles. Her initial fan base evolved in Sydney, and has since spread to L.A., San Francisco and is constantly growing.

Sponge Brain draws on many themes, including child abuse, the effects of religious education, adoption, suppression, the Tall Poppy Syndrome, life and love and honesty.

Sponge Brain showcases Libby's talents as a truly dedicated artist, singer, songwriter, and pianist.

"Sometimes Libby Lavella songs delicately crafted songs tinged with melancholy. Other times she cozies up to the bass line, oozing funk. But regardless of the ambience, this imaginative songwriter is always engaging.

Lavella's octave straddling soprano is appealing and occasionally surprising, as when it mellows to a smooth alto in Saverio. An able pianist and guitarist, her talent calls for a band that can hold it's own. Darkly Pretty, this Aussie singer, held the audience riveted, whether she was coaxing chords fromt he piano, strapping on a guitar or even, as in "Stoning the Crow", rapping centre stage. She and her band gleamed with a polish earned by tireless performing.

Libby Lavella's CD "Sponge Brain" is getting airplay on several local stations, a development that is encouraging in a world where innovation is often shunted. Lavella is a luminous musician of rare poise and substance who will find an audience worthy of her talent in time." Sarah Torribio-Bond

Libby Lavella. Hailing from the Los Angeles area by way of Australia, Lavella performs a jazzy, original blend of music that the Los Angeles Times has termed "Pop Soul Fusion." Her new CD, Sponge Brain, is well-produced and extremely catchy. Aux Sends - Mike Levine March 10th 2003

"Watching her, one gets the clear impression that this is a genuine professional at work. Libby is a very talented songwriter, a good singer, and a fine presenter of her own material and someone who knows how to connect with audiences. In many ways she is the complete package."
