While living in Africa in 2001, Darren realized his desire to make music couldnât stay quiet. He promised himself that upon returning to the States he, âwouldnât let [his] music stay inside [his] bedroom anymoreâ, and heâs kept that promise.

After playing solo for a few years in Washington he returned to his home state of Oregon where he assembled his band and The Darren Johnson Effort took on a new, exciting shape. In the summer of 2005, The Darren Johnson Effort recorded their first independent release, "It All Starts Here" (EP) and with in the first five months of its completion it had already landed into the hands of fans across the country and over seas, reaching as far as Australia. In just the first year as a band, they found themselves stepping onto some of the biggest festival stages in the Northwest and quickly became one of Portland, Oregonâs freshest, most exciting new bands with the rapidly growing support of their fans. In 2006, The Darren Johnson Effort recorded a demo which the song âBetter Than Nothingâ was featured on Oregon radio.

Now in 2008, the release of his acoustic album, "Paradise Bent" (6/10/08), marks another exciting turn in his career as he continues to fulfill the promise he made to himself. Whether playing solo or with his band, he sings his heart felt lyrics and plays his catchy melodies, making the music people are hungry for.
