"Lara Herscovitch is above and beyond the pack." -Northeast Performer
"Herscovitch was one hell of a find..." -New Haven Advocate
A unique and charismatic singer-songwriter on the rise, Lara's music is a skillful blend and variety of folk, pop and Latin styles, merging soulful melodies and insightful, intelligent and humorous lyrics. "A great and refreshing sound. Mixing folk with Latin rhythm and English and Spanish lyrics will take her far." -Acoustic Café
Raised in New York, Lara now lives in Connecticut's New Haven area, where she founded la Rama ("the branch") Records. Designed as a socially responsible company, la Rama uses recycled products and donates 10 of all CD sales to nonprofit environmental organizations. In addition to her regional music touring Lara is also a social worker who has worked in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the U.S. on behalf of disadvantaged individuals.
Sin Tierra, her self-produced debut album, and There, her second CD co-produced with Pierce Campbell, is full of captivating melodies, great rhythm, and bilingual lyrics that are poetic, intelligent, insightful, and humorous. Her songs cover a wide range of topics from personal (Para Siempre, Home, Fool's Gold, Haunted Heart, Tired of Being Tenacious) to sociological / global (Bangladesh or Brooklyn, Island of Blissful Ignorance, Tequila Over Turkey, Leave it in the Landfill).
