Details:
Singer/songwriter Laura DiStasi moves past sentimentality and cliché into darker, more intimate lyrical spaces with her debut album, Winters Never Quit. Recorded over the course of a year in Boston and released in July 2005, the album is filled with both the vibrancy and isolation of city life. DiStasi moves easily between musical genres-mixing catchy melodies with edgy electronics, jazzy vocals with honest, intimate lyrics. Her songs pluck moments from the everyday, holding up promise in one hand and heartbreak in the other. As a result, DiStasi shines in her music not only as a gifted songwriter, but also as a poet. Her writing hits close to the bone and is heavy with imagery. It feels its way through impressionistic landscapes, exploring the complexity and richness of relationships. Her songs are nostalgic, yet hopeful that anything worth lamenting is, once was, or could be beautiful.

Music has always been a part of Laura's life. Coming from piano lessons in suburban New Jersey, to coffee shop gigs, to local music festivals, DiStasi's choice to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston was a logical next step. She became a regular in songwriting showcases and simultaneously began making noise on mp3.com, where she raced to the top of the overall pop charts, among the Jewels and Michelle Branches of the world. During her time at Berklee, DiStasi played clubs and cafés throughout the Boston area and performed at some of the most legitimate venues in the Northeast: from TT the Bear's and Club Passim in Cambridge, to CBGB's Gallery and The Sidewalk Café in New York City, sharing the stage with Ellis Paul among others. DiStasi's music has consistently received praise from online sources, most recently garageband.com and ic-multimedia.com.

With such recognition serving as stepping-stones toward future goals, it's evident that Laura DiStasi's musical career is full of possibility and promise. An upcoming move to New York City and shows all over the Northeastern United States are just the beginning for this ambitious, talented songwriter.
