12 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Modern Folk, COUNTRY: Country Pop
Details:
Layton Elliott began playing the guitar in 1969 and wrote his first song in 1971. A native Washingtonian, Layton spent much time playing in garage bands, blues bands, country bands and irish bands, and performs occassionally as a solo act in coffee houses and bars. He has a unique finger picking style that he developed on his own; he plays all instruments on his albums and arranges all his works. Layton spent two years studying Music Theory and Composition back in the seventies and is also a published poet (See The Collected Poems of Layton Elliott at http://www.laytonelliott.com/cple.html). He is often described as having "a way with words". Early influences included The Beatles, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, and Neil Young. Layton has a baritone voice and enjoys transposing and rearranging 60's and 70's songs to suite his range and style.
