Details:
James LeBlanc is a singer/songwriter out of Muscle Shoals, Alabama originally from Shreveport, Louisiana.
James' early influences include such eclectic artists as The Eagles, James Taylor, and George Jones. This melting pot of musical geniuses steered James down a path of soulful lyricism added with his later influences to create a sound that is unprecedented in the world of music as we know it.
"I was playing songs by all these guys at the age of twelve. I started playing and singing when I was 7 years old. My dad was a picker and singer so he taught me all this stuff at that young age. I grew up with it. It was great training."
- JL
Some of James' later influences include such legendary guitarists as Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd, and Prince. The band Fleetwood Mac, imparticular, Lindsey Buckingham also had a great effect on James' musical direction.
"Anybody with real soul. Funky and rhythmic music moves me".
"My number one influence of all time would have to be the band U2. They're totally awesome. I love the sheer passion in their playing, singing and writing."
- JL
As an artist, James' delivery is what we in Muscle Shoals call Soulful. James is difficult to define stylistically, as he is cutting his own trails musically and his talents are broad so he crosses genres easily. His appeal crosses demographics like crazy as well.
On top of his singing and writing talents, James also is an amazing guitar player. He spent much of his youth practicing and playing in local bands throughout the South. On stage James is dynamic, holding the audience in the palm of his hand. He spent years developing his stage chops by playing and singing for up to 8 hours a night six days a week in the Shreveport casinos.
Last year James took a friend up on an offer to play guitar on the massive "Girls Night Out Tour". He spent the next six months on the road with the up and coming Australian sensation Jamie O'Neal along with Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Carolyn Dawn Johnson.
James has been writing for Fame Publishing in Muscle Shoals since December of 1997. He has spent the last 5 years in Muscle Shoals building a publishing catalog and honing his musical talents. He has had 18 songs cuts by major label artists in the last 3 years as a songwriter. This includes the recent top 10 southern Rock based single "Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde" for Travis Tritt. James is now in the studio working on his Muscle Shoals Records debut CD.
