With its unconventional fusion of acoustic textures, synthetic gadgetry and infectious melodies, Le Chevre's debut puts a refreshing spin on eclectic, alternative pop music.

From the first track "Everything Reminds Me," an addictive mix of acoustic guitar and '80s synth-pop, to the last, "Shot Down," a careful combination of Neil-Young-esque groove, Rhodes keyboard and earthy vocals, the self-titled album is absorbing, yet dynamic rock and roll entertainment.


While others contribute to the live show, Le Chevre (pronounced "shev-ruh") is the innovation, instrumentation and writing of one, Michael Barksdale, combined with the in-studio mastery of Mike Gowan.

From the foothills of the Carolinas' Blue Ridge Mountains (Greenville, South Carolina), Barksdale's music is influenced by a paradoxical mix - the region's rich folk music and the synth-pop sounds of the '80s.

Recording music since he was 11, one could say Le Chevre was born when Michael's musician father was handcrafting an acoustic guitar in one room, while he sought contentment in the sound boards of computers, video games and Casios in another.

In reality (and after his disco-punk project Flesh for Fantasy), Barksdale began Le Chevre in early 2004. Collaborating with Gowan that summer, the two put down tracks on both coasts - from The Jam Room in Columbia, South Carolina to Startle Studios in Santa Monica, California.

To support the November release, Le Chevre is gearing up for a US tour in late 2004 / early 2005.
